Advocate

JC's responsibilities as an advocate are to help our community members gain access to support and services they need.

JC is incredibly excited to be working at the Rainbow Center as an Advocate. Born in Tijuana, Mexico, they become very involved in issues regarding immigration rights, LGBTQ+ advocacy and the need to destigmatize conversations surrounding the intersections of immigration, as well as economic and environmental issues in communities of color. While at the University of Puget Sound, they became involved with student lead advocacy groups such as Advocates for Detained Voices and a radio host for the KUPS show “locked-up and tuned-in” both focusing on the injustices inside detention centers and the U.S. immigration system.

JC is also a member of Seeds Queer Latinx Book Club, which seeks to highlight underrepresented queer persepectives within the latinx diaspora by making access to theory and narratives accessible beyond the limits of the ivory tower.
