Join Rainbow Center as we celebrate the entire LGBTQS2 Community.
Rainbow Center hosts celebratory activities throughout the year, including our 3rd Thursday Community Events, Tacoma Pride Month, Black & White Gayla and many other programs.
Rainbow Center is the host organization for Tacoma Pride, celebrated in the month of July. Tacoma Pride centers and celebrates the LGBTQ2S community while entertaining and inspiring more than 20,000+ community members in the South Sound. Since 2019, Tacoma Pride has evolved from a singular celebrated day to an entire month full of activities and events. Tacoma Pride street festival is held the second Saturday of July every year.
Our annual Black & White Gayla is known to be one of the best nights in Tacoma. Held in November, this fundraiser includes a live and silent auction, entertainment and a dance party, with the proceeds going to support the work of Rainbow Center. With over 500+ people in attendance, the events caters to both the gay and straight allied community members in the South Sound.
Rainbow Center offers open hours on Tuesday and Thursday from 1-4pm, which is an opportunity for members of the community to come in, connect to resources, and learn more about the Rainbow Center's events and initiatives!

Queer Prom
Queer Prom is an inclusive, safe, and celebratory dances designed for LGBTQ+ youth (often ages 14–24) and allies, offering a joyful alternative to traditional school proms. These events typically feature dancing, drag performances, and a space for authentic self-expression. Oasis Youth will be hosting in Tacoma on April 18 at Pacific Lutheran University. This year's theme is Inter-GAY-latic Ball!

Gender ID Change Pop-Up Clinic
GU Law Name & Gender I.D. Change Pop-Up Clinic The Center for Civil and Human Rights (CCHR) will be hosting our next Name and Gender I.D. Change Pop-Up Clinic on Sunday, November 9! This is our last pop-up clinic of 2025. All services are free and by appointment only. In-person or remote (over Zoom) appointments are available.

ALOK’s literary works “Beyond the Gender Binary,” “Femme in Public,” and “Your Wound, My Garden,” have garnered global recognition. Their dynamic presence has captivated audiences in over 40 countries, with sold-out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Netflix is a Joke Festival. ALOK's first comedy special BIOLOGY! [alokvmenon.com] was executive produced by Christopher Guest. They are the subject of the docu-short “ALOK” executive produced by Jodie Foster and directed by Alex Hedison, which made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival in 2024. On screen, they can also be seen in Complicated Order, The Trans List, and Absolute Dominion (forthcoming). On television, they can be seen on HBO's Sex Lives of College Girls, Sort Of and Random Acts of Flyness, Hulu’s Planet Sex with Cara Delevingne, and Netflix’s Gender Agenda Comedy Special and Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness.
