Lauren is a Tacoma native, by way of Curtis High School, and received her BA in Sustainable Urban Development from the University of Washington-Tacoma. After a few brief stints in government positions, she thankfully landed in the non-profit world as a Grant Writer and Prospect Research Associate, currently at the Pierce County Library Foundation.

You may recognize her as Lauren VonDeadly, her alter ego, who enjoys singing with her drag troupe on the Tacoma Pride stage (she’s usually the one in purple baseball socks that say GAY down the sides). In addition to the Rainbow Center, Lauren volunteers with Northwest Harvest, Earth Gay, Habitat for Humanity, the annual Point-In-Time Count, and collects/distributes donations for community members experiencing homelessness. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her daughter, Jett (8), and her partner, Alicia, re-watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the 150 th time, or making up songs about her pets…and she is rarely seen without a glass of iced caffeine nearby.
